About the event
LARP camps are hosted on several acres of land nestled between two large, forested hills. Our healthy, year-round stream flows through the property helping to bring cool air into our well-shaded space.
Objective: To create an immersive, engaging, and educational live-action role-play (LARP) experience for children ages 9-14, focusing on puzzle-solving, teamwork, and storytelling. The Story Masters (Ian & Melanie Bright) have devised a unique storyline, plot, tasks, goals, and events for the children to immerse themselves in.
On the first day, participants arrive at the camp and are greeted by the camp facilitators, who are in-character as guides from the enchanted realm. Children will create their characters, choose their class (warrior, mage, druid, etc.) and assign skill points to unlock class-specific abilities. Children may choose to be either lawful good or chaotic good.
Once everyone’s characters are setup, camp facilitators explain the LARP rules, combat system, rules of engagement, and safety guidelines to ensure a fun and secure environment.
Campers participate in a brief workshop to practice LARP combat and learn how to safely engage in physical activities. (ie. no strikes above the shoulders, no full-force swings, etc.)
Next, we unfold the storyline through the help of props and pre-screened cast members for the kids to interact with. We'll introduce various types of puzzles such as riddles and logic puzzles and provide tips for solving them.
Camp facilitators, playing various roles such as allies or adversaries, guide the campers through the adventures and ensure a safe, engaging experience.
Kids practice their problem-solving skills and learn the value of teamwork and communication to overcome challenges, discover hidden clues, and progress through the story.
Character costumes are CRUCIAL for LARPing and provide a strong sense of continuity while in-game. Parents are responsible for outfitting their children in an imaginative costume to be worn each day such as armor, robes, hats, tiaras, etc. Please keep the heat of Summer in mind as you and your child craft their unique garb.
